LED Sign Questions

  • Do I have to install the software on my PC? - No, unless you want to use a PC to update message text. You can use remote to update the message text.
  • How can PC communicate with the sign? -

    We have multiple communication types that can be used depending on your need. The most popular connection is USB, but serial, ethernet and wireless connections are available. For wireless solutions, please contact our sales department.

    • USB ñ this is the most popular direct connection because all new PCs are equipped with this port. An USB converter is plugged into the PC and a cable that runs to a message sign. Maximum recommended length between PC and a message sign is 100í (30M).
    • RS485 ñ this is long distance solution for message signs located between 100í and 4000í. An RS232/RS485 converter is plugged into the PC. For this solution PC need available serial port. If none is available you can add 3rd party serial card. The solution is using 2-pair twisted cable terminated with RJ11 modular connectors.
    • Network ñ this is best solution if the signs is located a long distance from PC and a network is available near the sign location. The network administrator will be needed to setup the device network ID.
  • How difficult is the installation? - The installation is simple. Wall mounting brackets are supplied in the kit. After mounting the sign, connect power to the sign you're done. If you want to control sign from you PC you need to also run the communication cable. You can always control sign using the remote control.
  • How do I change the message text? - Sign message can be changed using either the remote control or through PC software.
  • How long will LED lamps last? - The lifetime of a LED is over 100,000 hours (10 years).
  • What are the message sign applications? - You can use it wherever you need to get message. We provide signs for doctor offices, banks, schools, car dealerships, theaters, hospitals, restaurants, gas stations, supermarkets, churches, and other indoor locations.
  • What font types are available? - Our signs use configurable fonts. A few English font types and sizes are available by default but you can add additional characters using included font editor.
  • What is the viewing angle of your sign? - Our indoor message signs offer 140Deg.
  • What languages can I display? - All languages can be displayed using custom fonts.
  • What message will be displayed after power-up? - The last configured text will be displayed. The sign is using non-volatile memory to store messages for up to 10 years.
  • What software do I need to install? - Our message signs come with easy to use LED Multimedia software. The software is used to update the message text and configuration. It is not required to run software after the message text is updated. The software can simulate the message sign layout on our monitor.
  • Will my message stay on the sign after disconnecting PC? - Yes. The message text is saved in sign memory. The PC is used only to update the text and configuration.
