How can PC communicate with the sign? - We have multiple communication types that can be used depending on your need.
The most popular connection is USB, but serial, ethernet and wireless connections
are available. For wireless solutions, please contact our sales department.
- USB ñ this is the most popular direct connection because all new
PCs are equipped with this port. An USB converter is plugged into the PC and
a cable that runs to a message sign. Maximum recommended length between PC
and a message sign is 100í (30M).
- RS485 ñ this is long distance solution for message signs located
between 100í and 4000í. An RS232/RS485 converter is plugged
into the PC. For this solution PC need available serial port. If none is
available you can add 3rd party serial card. The solution is using 2-pair
twisted cable terminated with RJ11 modular connectors.
- Network ñ this is best solution if the signs is located a long
distance from PC and a network is available near the sign location. The network
administrator will be needed to setup the device network ID.
